Cavs One Win Away From Eliminating Wizards

In the WASHINGTON POST, Michael Lee writes “LeBron James hasn’t engaged in much talk with the Washington Wizards during this best-of-seven series. His only comment that could be interpreted as bulletin board material came after his Cleveland Cavaliers took a 3-1 lead on Sunday. James was asked if the Wizards had any chance of coming back to win, and he answered, ?No.’ The Cavaliers are one victory from ending the Wizards’ season for the third year in a row with Game 5 set for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Quicken Loans Arena. James, who is averaging 29.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists this series, is confident that it is not a matter of if but when Cleveland will eliminate the Wizards.”

Report: Suns Deny Report of D’Antoni’s Imminent Departure

ESPN.COM News Services reports “despite averaging 58 regular-season wins the past four seasons, Mike D’Antoni might be out as Phoenix Suns coach. An SI.com report on Tuesday night said the coach will not return after his team was eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs in five games in their best-of-7 first-round playoff series. D’Antoni has two years and $8.5 million left on his contract. Suns general manager Steve Kerr denied the report, Arizona Republic reporter Paul Coro said Wednesday morning on ESPN’s ‘First Take.’”

2008 Olympic Basketball Tournament Preview

SECAUCUS, NJ, April 28, 2008 — The 2008 Olympic Draw took place Saturday in Beijing. Nine out of the 12 qualified teams were split into two groups that will compete in preliminary round play from Aug. 10-18. The three remaining slots in the competition will be determined in a 12-team tournament held in Greece from July 14-20.
