Pistons’ Hamilton Will Play in Must-Win Game 6

Rip Hamilton expected a little parental concern and commiseration when he spoke to his dad about his strained right elbow. No such luck. “He said, ?Just spit on it.’ Usually, when you talk to your dad, he’d be like, ?All right, man, take your time.’ He’s like, ?Just spit on it, man, we’re at war right now. You ain’t got no choice to sit down.’ I feel all right. I feel good enough to go out and play.”So play he will. Coach Search Continues in Phoenix

In the ARIZONA REPUBLIC, Paul Coro writes “the second round of interviews to fill the Suns’ head-coaching job began Thursday, but that does not mean the first round is over. General Manager Steve Kerr met for a second time with Utah Jazz assistant Tyrone Corbin on Thursday and will have a second interview today with Houston Rockets lead assistant Elston Turner. The meetings also were convenient, with all parties in Orlando for the NBA predraft camp. A second interview with Detroit Pistons lead assistant Terry Porter is planned but has not been scheduled because they are in the Eastern Conference finals. Walsh Could Trade Knicks’ No. 6 Pick

In the NEW YORK POST, Marc Berman writes “Donnie Walsh finally arrived at the pre-draft camp here yesterday and officially began the task of gauging the trade value of the Knicks’ sixth pick in the June 26 draft. The more the Knicks president talked, the more he sounded as if he would rather wheel and deal. ‘We’re going to look at every option,’ Walsh said in a state-of-the-Knicks Address at Disney’s Wide World of Sports. ‘Trade it outright for a very good NBA player. Trade back for multiple picks. Trade up. There’s a lot of different things you do. You explore everything.’”

Derrick Rose: Michael Beasley is Better Than Me

In the SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL, Ira Winderman writes “the debate over who will be the top pick in the June 26 NBA Draft might not be a debate at all. While he wouldn’t say that Kansas State power forward Michael Beasley should be the No. 1 selection by the Bulls and that he should go No. 2 to the Heat, Memphis point guard Derrick Rose said today he considers himself second to one. ‘It’s definitely him,’ Rose said of Beasley, when asked about which was the superior player. ‘He’s way better than me. He’s versatile.’”
