In the USA TODAY, Kelly Whiteside writes “During the first day of Olympic practice for the U.S. men’s basketball team, the players gathered around a large flat-screen TV on the sideline and watched Marvin Gaye perform the The Star-Spangled Banner at the 1983 NBA All-Star Game. ?Instead of having a fight song or whatever, that’s our song,’ coach Mike Krzyzewski said while standing on the court at Cox Pavilion on UNLV’s campus Saturday. ?I wanted them to envision the gold medal game on Aug. 24th, envision being on the gold medal stand and the national anthem being played.’”
