Spurs’ Ginobili to Undergo Foot Surgery

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that Manu Ginobili will undergo surgery to correct a posterior impingement of his left ankle.
He originally suffered the injury in the Spurs-Suns series in the 2008 NBA Playoffs. The injury hampered Ginobili for the remainder of the postseason. After a rehabilitation program Ginobili was cleared to play in the 2008 Olympics. He re-aggravated the injury in the tournament’s semifinal round in a game versus the U.S.A. on August 22.

Like Father, Like Son: Knicks Trade for Patrick Ewing, Jr.

Walsh announced today that forward Patrick Ewing, Jr. has been acquired from Houston for the draft rights to center Frederic Weis.
“Patrick Ewing will have an opportunity here to compete for a spot on our roster,” Walsh said. “He is a solid defensive player and a very good athlete.”

Report: Ginobili to Undergo Heel Surgery

San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili says he needs arthroscopic surgery to repair a ligament injury in his left heel.
“They’re going to operate on me,” he told Argentina’s La Nacion newspaper Friday. The 31-year-old doesn’t know when he’ll have the surgery or who will do it.

Olympian Dwyane Wade Honored in Miami

It was a picturesque moment for Dwyane Wade on Thursday. With the gold medal hanging proudly around his neck, Wade emerged from a shower of red, white, and blue confetti amidst 2,000 jubilant HEAT fans who gathered to give him a hero’s welcome.
Wade, who helped Team USA win gold in this year’s Olympics, was honored with a banner unveiling at the AmericanAirlines Arena. The banner will be displayed alongside the HEAT division and NBA championship banners.
